I just got an email from my Dad the other day with the link at the bottom about the 2009 Edwards Air Force Base Open House air show. The site belongs to the photographer Bernard Zee and it has some of the best aircraft photography I have seen. The link has some good description of the aircraft pictured and some nice audio clips as well. Top pic is a flyby of 2 F-16s, a T-38, a B-1, B-2, B-52, C-17, KC-135, and C-130 (top right to left). Bottom picture shows the F-22 Raptor, P-38 Lightning, F-16 Fighting Falcon & A-10 Thunderbolt II or "Warthog" in formation flight.
It occurs to me as I am writing this that the P-38 Lightning flew in the sky above as the new F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter was on display for the first time to the general public.
The F-35A variant is designed to replace the US Air Force (USAF) F-16, the B variant will target USAF A-10 & US Marine Corps AV8-B Harrier II and the C variant will phase out the US Navy F-18 Hornet.
Would have been cool if they would have had P-47 Thunderbolt fly along with its' namesake, the A-10 Thunderbolt II!
If you like "Warbirds" old and new you should check out the links below.
